It starts with a phone call. You have a message to deliver, an audience to reach and a desired result. As the writer I want to pull together as much information about the product, the company, the available budget and the communications needs as possible. I synthesize the information toward the point of view of the intended audience, and ask as many questions as I’m allowed in my attemp to understand the situation in the same way you do. And then try to bring new insight. After a bit more percolating several creative solutions are developed. Each is given due consideration and measured for fit on the message, the audience, and the payoff. Finally, the best solution is expanded into a script, and edited into a blueprint for your needed media program.

Of course, if all the necessary information is contained in a company brochure, and a 15-minute conversation with your representative is all that’s possible, it’s no problem. I can deliver a script that can be produced for the budget that is available.
